Had you asked Debbie Bruce, several years ago, if she was an artist, her response would have been, “ I am a painter”. Today, Debbie's response is that she is a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a registered nurse, an avid gardener, and, yes, an artist.
After 10 years of journeying in the art world, taking workshops, painting miles of canvases, she is committed to a future of painting. She has studied with some of the finest artists, including JoAnn Williams Walker, Quiang Huang , Quido Frick, Nancy Franke, Barbara Flowers, and her mentor, Jim Richards. She greatly admires the work of Quang Ho, Sergei Bongart and Kevin MacPherson.
Debbie works, primarily, with oils, and enjoys, both studio painting and 'plein aire' painting. She considers herself an impressionist artist, who longs to capture the beauty of the light in nature, and the “essence” of what she is painting .She loves to paint landscapes that evoke emotion, and scenes capturing people living life, wherever that may be. Spontaneity, bold colors and texture characterize her work.
